Do the holidays you book have ATOL/ABTA protection?

Yes we have full ATOL and ABTA protection!

Do you have to be in the UK to join?

No, you can run your travel business from anywhere in the world, but in order to join the Golden Hour Travel Company, you have to be resident in a country that our host agency operates in. 

This is currently: United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, USA, Mexico, Bahamas, Jamaica, Panama and various other islands (please contact for details of specific islands we operate in).

I have a full time job, will this work for me?

Yes absolutely. Most of the team have full-time jobs. The beauty of this business is that you can build it around your existing work / family commitments. It is totally flexible. There are no targets/quotas or set hours you have to commit to and as the systems are accessible 24/7 you can work on your business when it suits you. 

When and how are commission payments made?

Commissions are paid 30-90 days after the travel booking has been completed e.g if you booked a holiday for 1-7 July, the commission would be paid between 8 August - 8 October. 

Once our host travel agency has received the commission, you will receive 70% (the remaining 30% is retained by the host agency). This commission split is one of the highest in the industry. Once you have earned £3,500 in commissions (in a 12 month period) your commission will increase to 80% (the host agency keeping 20%).

How do I get started? 

Either message the person who you’ve been speaking to about the business and let them know that you are ready to get started or simply click the “GET STARTED” link and fill out your details and we will contact you. 

The sign up process will take about 10 minutes - we can get you registered and ready to complete your mandatory training and within a few hours you will be a qualified Independent Travel Agent. As the training is all online, you can do this at a time that suits you.

How much time will I need to spend on my business once I have joined? 

This is the best part, it is totally flexible so you can dedicate as much or as little time as you’d like - full-time, part-time, whenever suits you and your circumstances. Some people join purely to benefit from earning on their personal travel/ booking for friends and family, others now operate as full-time ITAs. The choice is yours.

What if I decide it’s not for me?

There is no contract meaning you can leave at any time. Our 30 day full money back guarantee means you can cancel within 30 days for a full refund. After the first month, if you decide it’s not for you, you can cancel at any point and payments stop immediately. 

Do I need a big social media following? 

Absolutely not, whilst many people use social media to promote their businesses, there are some very successful agents who have built their entire travel businesses booking for friends and family and by word of mouth. We also offer social media training within the training portal to help you get started. 

What happens if something goes wrong for one of my clients whilst on a trip I have booked?

Whilst this is unlikely, it is important to state that you do not hold any personal liability. All of our suppliers hold ATOL and ABTA accreditations. You are effectively the middle person between the supplier and the client. The supplier would work to resolve any issue and you would keep your client updated. 

Are you part of a network marketing company?

There are two separate businesses: the travel business and the marketing business. 

When you join the travel business as an ITA, you book a holiday and earn commission. It’s as simple as that! You earn commissions on any travel bookings you make, whether solely for personal travel or for friends/family or clients. 

There is also the option to join the marketing company and refer friends and family, so they can also earn from travel. This is a completely separate business that opens up the ability to earn from other revenue streams. Why did you become an Independent Travel Agent?

I love travelling and used to book all of our hotels directly or through search engines, clueless that commission was built into every holiday I was booking. When I discovered a way to earn that commission myself, it seemed like a no-brainer to sign up. Now I book the same holidays, but I get to keep the commission rather than give it away to other companies. Also, I have a young family and there are so many places we’d like to take our children to. Creating additional income in a totally flexible way, around my existing work and family commitments, will allow us to see more of the world as a family.

Do you have to have experience in the travel industry?

Not at all, we have access to extensive training from our host agency and preferred partners, as well as an incredible training platform. All training is online and accessible 24/7, so you can fit it in around your lifestyle. You can develop the skills to grow a successful travel business enjoying the ease and flexibility of remote learning.
